Newcastle has been named the new host city for the series finale of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship for the next five years.
Announced by the NSW Premier Mike Baird during a visit to the city in September, the final route of the circuit was confirmed late-December 2016. You can tour the course in the video below.
Supercars Australia CEO, James Warburton, said Newcastle's 2.6km circuit will be spectacular, "This world-class event will showcase Newcastle to 233million homes globally."
"The Newcastle circuit will show some of the most historic and significant landmarks across the city including Nobby’s Beach and Fort Scratchley, with extraordinary viewing areas for spectators."
The V8 Supercars finale will also see off-track entertainment as well as world-class motorsport.
The Newcastle event will run 24 - 26 November, 2017, and is expected to inject more than $57 million to the Hunter region over the next five years with 81,000 visitors from around NSW.
